CORRELATION OF THE CONCEPTS OF “CIVILIZATION” AND “CULTURAL-HISTORICAL TYPE” IN THE THEORY OF N. YA. DANILEVSKY

Abstract

In recent scientifi c discussions, a lot of time has been devoted to the civilizational approach in determining the development strategy of our society. The topic “Russian state — civilization” was introduced for study in the course “Fundamentals of Russian statehood”, however, there is no clear, scientifi cally correct defi nition of “civilization”. In three versions of textbooks, it is proposed to turn to the teachings of N. Y. Danilevsky in revealing the foundations of civilizational theory. In recent publications, in order to provide methodological assistance to higher school teachers, we systematize materials on the civilizational approach to determining the strategy of the progressive movement of the human race. Let us attempt to analyze the conceptual apparatus of the civilizational theory of the Russian philosopher.
