THE CIVILIZATIONAL APPROACH: THE PROBLEM OF SUFFICIENCY

Abstract

In the study of civilizational issues, there is still no clear understanding of the essence of the concept itself, and there is no objective and reasoned justification for the sufficiency and necessity of the civilizational approach as the most effective in determining the strategy for humanity's development. An analysis of the diversity of civilizational approaches has revealed the imperfections of each of the considered concepts. Civilization is not a perfect or ideal stage of society's development, despite the fact that no one has proposed a more advanced stage in the progressive development of humanity. It seems that a philosophical interpretation of the problem under consideration can define "civilization" as a characteristic of the particular, and "formation" as a universal. Such an interpretation will allow us to determine the nature and place of "formation" and "civilization" and the possibility of combining their essential aspects into a single formation-civilization approach to determine the strategy for humanity's development.
