THE IDEAL OF THE MORAL PRINCIPLE IN THE ETHICAL THEORY OF PETER LAVROV
Abstract
The idea of a spiritual and moral community of people has always occupied the minds of Russian philosophers, but this ethical idea received a special and original coloring in the fundamental socio-philosophical works of Peter Lavrov (1823—1900). P.L. Lavrov’s ethical teaching is unique in that it places its emphasis on such indicators of the moral development of society as moral responsibility and social justice. It is the concepts of moral values and justice that find themselves in the creativity of meanings and worthy deeds of people, according to P.L. Lavrov. They are the dominant factors that always lead to a radical moral transformation of society on the basis of equality, friendship and charity.
