GRAMMATICALIZATION OF THE CONSTRUCTION “AT THE ADDRESS”

Abstract

The article is devoted to one of the topical issues of Russian studies — the grammaticalization of the combination of a preposition and content word. We study lexicographic descriptions of the combination at address, specifying 8 different constructions. The constructions are further divided into three groups according to the lexical meaning of the name as part of the unit, also the characteristics of these constructions are described that reveal different stages of their transition into prepositional units. We separate homonymous adverbs and prepositional units, propose a peculiar scale of grammaticalization. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the process of transition from one part of speech to another, the degree of grammaticalization of units at the address(:) and at the address of in accordance with the criteria of the class of words called “preposition” and the belonging/non-belonging of these units to this class
