TERTIARY FORMATION IN THE THEORY OF K. MARX: INVERSE ABSORPTION OF VALUE

Abstract

Marx’s formational division of history contains heuristic possibilities that have not yet been used. His doctrine of tertiary formation, the society of free human individuality, is particularly promising in this respect. The tertiary formation is the beginning of humanity’s entry into history proper and the overcoming of prehistory, which includes the primary and secondary formations. The essence of each of the three formations, in our opinion, is captured logically in the “form of value” (primary formation) and in the “form of surplus value” (secondary formation). Tertiary formation also requires its logical grasp of the essence. It is thought that the logical expression of the essence of tertiary formation should be the “form of complex consumer value” as the reverse absorption of value, which provides the necessary and sufficient preconditions and conditions for the formation and development of free human individuality.
