A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE AMERICAN POLITICAL MYTH AND THE RUSSIAN POLITICAL MYTH
Abstract
The article examines the role of myths in the formation of political mythology, examines the main ideas in the structure of the functioning of political myths, the conditions of existence of mythical elements using the example of the political myths of the Russian Federation and the United States. The main purpose of the research is a detailed analysis of the mythical components of the American political myth and the Russian political myth, the conditions under which the mythological components of modern political mythology are formed, develop and disappear. In this regard, the article examines the historical sources of the formation of American political mythology and Russian political mythology, the basic principles for the functioning of these myths in society. The key research methods used are the comparative method, the historical method, the general scientific methods of analysis and synthesis, induction and deduction, the principles of scientific philosophy — the principle of development and the principle of objectivity. The article analyzes the components of political mythology, trends, general principles and conditions of myth formation in different countries and in different historical periods. The result of the research is an analysis of American political mythology and Russian political mythology, the prerequisites for the destruction of the American myth of exclusivity and the reason for the preservation of the traditional myth in Russian society. The central area of application of the results is the further study of political mythology. Based on specific political myths, it is possible to follow the successful implementation of policy objectives through archaic structures and to analyze the reasons for the destruction of political mythologies when the content does not match specific conditions. The conclusions of the study are the compilation of structural characteristics of political myths, among which it is worth highlighting historicity and focus on archaic plots. A political myth is intended for a specific audience and fulfills its goals in a specific socio-cultural environment. For politics, myth becomes a tool for strengthening power, but if the image of a politician departs from the archaic image of a defender or the foundations of the society where the myth functioned change, the myth naturally begins to collapse, until it completely disappears.
